The Challenge

After years of building a trusted brand, Lékué found that online counterfeiters were trying to steal their success. These fake kitchen products weren’t made with any kind of safety standards and could pose health risks to their own customers. Within one year, Lékué was able to take down 2,150 counterfeits with the help of Red Points. A reputation at risk

Since Lékué is helping people eat healthy food fast, it’s no wonder they became popular. However, when a line of products becomes popular, counterfeiters also take notice. In this situation, the fake items can also be harmful to consumers. Who knows what kind of chemicals might be in a fake “silicone” product. There’s no chance it would be guaranteed for 10 years like Lékué’s products are, either. The counterfeiters didn’t invest in R&D or building up a brand, they just siphoned sales off of the brand’s success.

Boosting sales with brand protection

There’s no way Lékué could price their products to compete with counterfeiters. However, there was something that could be done. Lékué chose to fight counterfeits for two of their most popular items: the Microwave Cooker and the Cheese Maker. Red Points partnered with Lékué to set up bots that went to work scanning the marketplace for aberrant versions of these products.
Detection showed that there were plenty of fake products. To date, Red Points achieved an 99% enforcement success rate and took down 2,458 fake items. The process quite literally recovered sales for Lékué. At the end of the first year, online sales for the Microwave Cooker were up 20%, and sales for the Cheese Maker were up 40%.
